St. Louis County Raises Rates to Access Bulk Public Records

When the St. Louis County Recorder of Deeds contracted with Fidlar Technologies in 2008 to provide online access to publicly recorded documents it was said to have been done in response to customer requests for convenience. It was said savings from not having to drive to the recorder’s office and pay for parking offset the fee for the service. Times have changed. Now, the St. Louis County Recorder of Deeds is hoping to generate revenue from charging higher rates to access the public records.
