New York Governor Proposes Title Agent Licensing Bill

In his 2014 proposed budget, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo unveiled legislation that would require title insurance agents, closers and title solicitors to be licensed by the state’s Department of Financial Services. The New York State Land Title Association has pushed for years to require title agents to be licensed in the state. Read on for specifics of the proposal that that would impact the industry.
