Title Services Provider Names National Underwriting Counsel

GRS Group, a provider of real estate transaction and title services, announced that Janice E. Carpi, a nationally recognized commercial real estate attorney and title insurance expert has joined its title services team.
Carpi, an experienced title insurance underwriting counsel with over 30 years in the industry, is known for her extensive body of work in both domestic and international real estate transactions. She has written in numerous publications and has been a frequent speaker at state, national, and international conferences including the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, the International Council of Shopping Centers, the American College of Mortgage Attorneys and the American Bar Association.
Additionally, Carpi served as a chair of the Title Insurance Committee for the American Bar Association's Real Property, Probate and Trust Section. She is a member of the State Bars of Texas, Virginia, Nevada, and the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, where she has served as a member of the Board of Governors.

For the past 25 years, Carpi has been a senior member of the underwriting staff for Lawyers Title Insurance Corporation, Commonwealth Land Title Insurance Company, Fidelity National Title Insurance Company and Chicago Title Insurance Company.

Carpi spent 10 years at LandAmerica Financial Group, Inc. and served as its senior vice president of commercial services, senior underwriter and transaction counsel. In this position, she assumed underwriting responsibility for LandAmerica's international commercial services business and served as senior underwriting contact for its domestic Commercial Services business. She also specializes in underwriting bankruptcy and FDIC issues.

Carpi received her Juris Doctorate degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas and her Bachelor of Arts degree from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
