Former ALTA Board Member Passes Away

September 9, 2010

Joseph W. McNamara Jr., a former board member of the American Land Title Association and past president of the Nebraska Land Title Association, passed away Sept. 2 at the age of 79.

He served on the ALTA board from 1980 to 1982. He served as president of the NLTA in 1991.

McNamara founded and owned Omaha, Neb.-based Security Land Title and Escrow Co. He sold the company in 2007, but maintained a law office.

McNamara graduated from Creighton University, where he also earned a law degree. He served in the Air Force for four years in the 1950s.

He is survived by his wife, Suzanne, and three children.
