Stewart Announces Return to Forbes Platinum 400 List

February 26, 2002

HOUSTON (Feb. 22, 2002) - Stewart Information Services Corp. (Stewart) (NYSE-STC) announced that it has returned to the Forbes ?Platinum 400 of America's Best Big Companies.? The annual list spotlights large American companies with outstanding profitability and growth.

Furthermore, Stewart made the ?Fast Track? listing of 23 Platinum 400 companies that have posted the highest earnings-per-share (EPS) growth rate in their respective industries. With its five-year average EPS growth of 44.3 percent, Stewart led the insurance sector, which included 17 accident, health, life, property and casualty, title and other insurance companies.

?This is outstanding news,? said Ted C. Jones, Stewart director of Investor Relations and senior vice president and chief economist for Stewart Title Guaranty Co.
