MISMO Announces Committee Appointments

February 4, 2010

The Mortgage Bankers Association’s Mortgage Industry Standards Maintenance Organization (MISMO) reported several changes among its committee membership. Two executives from SigniaDocs, a provider of eMortgage services, and an executive from Ellie Mae, a mortgage origination solutions provider, were appointed to key posts.

Harry Gardner, SigniaDocs chief strategy officer, was named chair of the MISMO governance committee, which oversees the administration and policies of MISMO. The committee is responsible for maintaining the architectural consistency of the MISMO standards in accordance with MISMO’s policies and procedures. The committee is comprised of 18 representatives elected from MISMO subscriber companies that do business in the residential mortgage industry. Each member serves for a two-year term, with half of the seats up for election each year.

Gardner was vice president of industry technology for the MBA and president of MISMO prior to joining SigniaDocs. Appointed earlier to serve on the committee, Gardner was elected to the chair for 2010 at last week’s MISMO meeting in Jacksonville, Fla.

Charles Epperson, SigniaDocs’ vice president of eMortgage technology, was re-elected as chair of the MISMO title workgroup and as a member of MISMO’s council of chairs. Epperson has also been appointed to chair the eCommerce and MERS sub-group of the MBA’s Doc Custody workgroup, which focuses on the application of advanced technology for document custodial operations.

SigniaDocs’ president Tim Anderson, who has served for years in various positions within MISMO, is leaving his position on MISMO’s board of directors in conformance with bylaw provisions that preclude a company from serving on the MISMO board and governance committee at the same time.

Stephanie Berger, Ellie Mae’s director of e-mortgage solutions, joins Gardner on MISMO’s governance committee. She has an eight-year history with MISMO that began in 2001 as co-chair of MISMO’s Origination Workshop and leader of the Closing subgroup, where she collaborated in the development of the extensive Closing v2.3 dataset, the first MISMO standards release that facilitated processes critical to the paperless mortgage initiative. Berger also served as a representative on Core Data Structures and on MISMO’s Council of Chairs.

In her current position with Ellie Mae, Berger is responsible for aligning the company’s e-mortgage data formats with MISMO standards, and incorporating MISMO standards in Ellie Mae’s current and future initiatives, which include e-disclosures, e-signing, e-closings and e-notes.
