Federal Court Upholds Virginia Law Limiting Access to Public Records

June 21, 2012

In McBurney v.Young, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit upheld the constitutionality of a provision in Virginia’s public records law that limits public record disclosure to those persons or entities that are “citizens” of Virginia.
