Stewart Information Services Appoints Chief Compliance Officer

January 5, 2012

Stewart Information Services Corp. announced the appointment of Patrick Thesing to chief compliance officer (CCO). Thesing, having worked with Stewart for more than 19 years, brings a wealth of legal expertise and industry experience to oversee Stewart’s corporate compliance program. Previously, Thesing served the company as litigation counsel.

Thesing will be responsible for the continued development of Stewart’s corporate compliance and risk management programs. This includes communicating, institutionalizing and monitoring standards and procedures across the company to maintain compliance and manage risk throughout all areas.

“Patrick is a natural transition into the role of Stewart's chief compliance officer,” said Mike Skalka, chief legal officer. “As CCO he will be responsible for guiding our company’s compliance initiatives, including Sarbanes-Oxley, enterprise risk, corporate compliance, market conduct exams and regulatory compliance, as well as be part of the team that handles complex litigation matters.”

Thesing’s background is in compliance, commercial litigation and complex regulatory matters. He has provided counsel and advice to corporations on global anti-corruption and anti-fraud initiatives, establishment of compliance programs, acquisitions and agent due diligence, special investigations and defense before U.S. regulators. He has also provided counsel, advice and litigation support services on law enforcement issues, internal investigations, complex litigation, insurance coverage opinions and bad faith claims.
