ALTA’s Director of Meetings Honored with PMPI’s President’s Award

The American Land Title Association is proud to announce that Cornelia Horner, CMP, Director of Meetings and Marketing, received the 2011 President’s Award from the Meeting Professionals International Potomac Chapter (PMPI).
The award is given by the outgoing president to recognize a member who has been instrumental during this past year, going above and beyond to ensure the chapter’s success.
“I have a passion for planning meetings and events, and it’s an honor to receive this prestigious award,” Horner said. “Many of my peers provide dedicated energetic support of PMPI and bring tremendous knowledge and insight to the organization. I’m deeply humbled to be recognized among these true professionals.”
Horner joined ALTA in 2007, enhancing the quality of the association’s conferences and meetings every year. She directs ALTA’s Annual Convention, Federal Conference and Lobby Day, Business Strategies Conference, and several other meetings throughout the year.
“We are fortunate to have someone of Cornelia’s caliber organizing and leading ALTA’s conferences and meetings,” said Kurt Pfotenhauer, ALTA’s Chief Executive Officer. “We are delighted but not surprised that her professionalism and acumen have been recognized by her peers.”
Prior to joining ALTA, Horner spent more than 10 years working on Capitol Hill and in government relations before serving as Director of Meetings with CropLife America for eight years. Following CropLife America, Horner opened Convention Meeting and Hospitality Solutions (CMH Solutions.) She received her Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation in 2002.
With nearly 1,000 members, the Potomac Chapter is an affiliate of Meeting Professionals International (MPI), the world's largest association of meeting professionals with more than 23,000 members and 71 chapters.
Horner is a former President of PMPI and has served the chapter in a number of leadership roles including Vice President of Finance, Board Director for Strategic Alliances and Co-Chair of the Leadership Recognition committee. She was recognized as the chapter’s Rising Star in 2001. Most recently, Horner joined MPI’s International Board of Directors for a three-year term starting in July 2011.
Originally from Mobile, Ala., Horner received a degree in Accounting from the University of Alabama.
