Title Companies Settle Rate Disputes in California, Missouri

Old Republic agreed to pay the California Department of Insurance $399,000 for allegedly charging lenders rates different than the rating rules that had been approved on certain residential refinance title insurance rates and escrow fees, while Fidelity settled a $500,000 fine with the Missouri Department of Insurance surrounding allegations that four of its underwriters charged consumers incorrect fees and used unapproved insurance policies.
