Live from ALTA's Business Strategies Conference - Tuesday April 21, 2009

After a long but productive day of learning and sharing information, feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive. Highlights from Monday's programming included a panel of industry partners discussing the overall barometer of the industry. In addition we held an open forum on RESPA Implementation moderated by Anne Anastasi, Chair of ALTA's Abstracters and Agents Section. Panelists from ALTA's RESPA Implementation Taskforce (pictured above) contributed to the lively exchange of ideas. Immediately following the General Session, attendees participated in focused topic Roundtable discussions during lunch in the exhibit hall. Each table, hosted by a speaker and a vendor, was dedicated to an important industry topic. The professional development sessions were well-received and included sessions on Mortgage Fraud, Google Apps, and Innovation. "I will be taking home information about how to better interact with our customers, thanks to what I've learned here at the Business Strategies Conference," said attendee Terrie Miller, Operations Officer for the H.B. Wilkinson Title Company of Galena, Illinois.

After enjoying an evening of excitement and entertainment provided by the San Antonio Fiesta celebration and the Cavalier's Parade of floats along the Riverwalk, attendees are gathering for breakfast roundtable discussions. Tuesday's formal programming digs deeper into industry challenges and strategies for success as two panels (one comprised of Agents and one of Underwriters) takes center stage in an open forum format.

Experienced industry executives will share personal experiences to help find solutions to common title industry concerns. Attendees will have the opportunity to have their questions addressed as we put the panelists up against issues coming directly from the audience.

Following the General Session, attendees will have one final opportunity to earn CE and CLE credits during the last round of Professional Development Sessions before the Conference closes with our last general session. ALTA is honored to have Ted C. Jones, Ph.D., Senior Vice President and Chief Economist for Stewart Title join us to forecast the economic conditions that will affect business across the title industry. He will discuss what is happening in today's turbulent marketplace and reveal details on what's happening in Washington and Wall Street to solve our nation's economic problems.
