The NEW RESPA Rule is here! Is Your Title Agency in Compliance?

March 3, 2009

The HUD-1 Settlement Statement has many changes that you need to understand in order to comply with the new procedures for title closing including accurate reporting of the Good Faith Estimate (GFE). During ALTA's Small Agents and Abstracters Forum, March 21-22, 2009 you will learn how lenders are using the forms, what your new role and responsibilities are as a title agent, how to apply costs and other requirements for the GFE, and much more. This comprehensive and interactive session provides a detailed overview of the new GFE procedures and HUD-1 Settlement Form to get your questions answered and to prepare your agency for the new rules. Special guest speaker Mary Schuster, a member of ALTA's RESPA Implementation Task Force, has been meeting regularly to compile the questions that have arisen since the new RESPA rule was released a few months ago. Schuster will share her expert knowledge and line-by-line analysis of the RESPA Settlement Statement Form and GFE. In addition to this informative session, you'll have opportunities to network and share ideas with other agents and abstracters from across the country and to gain new perspectives about important market and economic issues that uniquely affect small- to medium-sized title agencies.

While there is no registration fee for this event, all attendees must register to participate in the meeting. All meeting and meal expenses are billed back to each participant on a pro-rata share basis (excluding the Saturday Night dinner on March 21). The bill back is expected to be about $50 per person. Click on the Small Agents and Abstracters Forum web page to learn more about the program and to register.
