Stewart Title & Trust Acquires Safford Title Agency

November 26, 2007

Stewart Title & Trust of Phoenix Inc. has acquired Safford Title Agency. Existing management and staff will remain with the office, which will retain its current name. W.E. “Bill” Griffin and Brooks N. Bryce will remain with the company, with Griffin assuming the role of chairman and Bryce continuing as chief title officer.

“Stewart Title Guaranty Company had been working as the underwriter for Safford Title Agency for 15 years, so we were already acquainted with this great group of people,” said Brian Hughes, president of Stewart Title & Trust of Phoenix. “We see this as a wonderful opportunity to have a direct operation in a part of the state that is seeing a great deal of growth.”

Wayne Griffin, who is currently serving as senior escrow officer, will move into the role of Safford Title Agency president and office manager. He is the current president of the Graham County Chamber of Commerce and is in his third year of chamber board leadership.

“We are excited about having access to the resources of a larger company,” Griffin said. “Stewart has a great deal of expertise handling technology, benefits and other back-office tasks. With this change, our employees and managers will be able to concentrate even more of their time on providing our well-known service to our customers, who include the home buyers and sellers, attorneys, developers, builders and lenders in our area.”
