FCC's Junk Fax Rules Coming

December 14, 2005

The Federal Communications Commission delayed the Jan. 9 effective date for its junk fax rules and is seeking input on regulations to put the Junk Fax Prevention Act of 2005 into effect. The law allows a business with an established relationship with a customer to send unsolicited fax advertisements, but requires the sender to provide notice and contact information on the fax on how the recipient may opt-out of future faxes. FCC must write regulations by April 5, 2006, to put the law into effect. The law requires FCC to consider limits on the duration of an established business relationship.
