ZipRealty's look gets a facelift

Online real estate brokerage ZipRealty has undergone a facelift with a new company logo, slogan and Web site.

The Emeryville, Calif.-based company operates in Los Angeles, the San Francisco Bay Area, Ventura and Orange counties, San Diego and Sacramento in California, plus Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, northern Virginia, Phoenix, Seattle and Washington, D.C.

ZipRealty is among the few surviving real estate dot-coms. The company scored $13 million in venture capital in January 2003, a time when few dot-com companies were attracting such investment funds.

In October 2003, ZipRealty reported it achieved profitability for the first time since it was formed in 1999. However, the privately held company doesn't disclose revenue or income figures.

ZipRealty uses virtual office Web site technology and offers commission discounts to home buyers and sellers who utilize its services. Home buyers who meet ZipRealty's requirements can get 20 percent of the company's commission, while sellers who list their home with the company can qualify to save up to 25 percent in commission costs compared with current industry standards, according to the company.
