With all of the regulatory changes over the past year, title industry professionals may be unsure of various regulatory pitfalls that could prove disastrous to their operations. The new CFPB has said civil penalties will be imposed for violations of any of the consumer financial laws, including RESPA. While there are three tiers of fines that may be assessed for each day during which a violation occurs, a fine up to $1 million may be imposed for known violations. This is a fine no operation wants to face.
