Attend the 2011 Federal Conference and Get Inside Information on the Future of RESPA and Enforcement

While the industry has worked with the new Good Faith Estimate and HUD-1 for more than a year now, questions remain about compliance, how the title industry has been impacted by the changes and what further adjustments will need to be made once the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) is up and running.

These issues will be addressed at ALTA's 2011 Federal Conference and Lobby Day , which is being held March 13-16 at the Liaison Hotel in Washington, D.C. ALTA has compiled a star-studded panel (3-4 p.m., Tuesday, March 15) to help you understand the lessons learned from last year's implementation of RESPA Reform, best practices put into place and the current enforcement environment. You will also learn how reform has impacted interaction with customers, pricing and the closing process.

Scheduled speakers include:

Phil Schulman

K&L Gates

Dan Wold
SVP, General Counsel
Old Republic National Title Insurance Co.
Chair of ALTA's RESPA Task Force

-

With all of the regulatory changes over the past year, title industry professionals may be unsure of various regulatory pitfalls that could prove disastrous to their operations. The new CFPB has said civil penalties will be imposed for violations of any of the consumer financial laws, including RESPA. While there are three tiers of fines that may be assessed for each day during which a violation occurs, a fine up to $1 million may be imposed for known violations. This is a fine no operation wants to face.

Make sure you attend ALTA's 2011 Federal Conference and Lobby Day to get the latest on RESPA and the enforcement landscape.
