The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s TILA-RESPA Integrated Disclosures (TRID) rule significantly changed the closing process. The rule integrated forms required under the Truth-in-Lending Act (TILA) and Real Estate Settlement and Procedures Act (RESPA). ALTA has studied the nuances of the law and is providing feedback to the CFPB on proposed changes.

The ALTA Title & Settlement Agent Registry will launch in 2017 and establish a unique ID for title agency locations, real estate attorneys, and underwriter direct office locations. The ALTA Registry will contain basic demographic information—the type of information which appears on a website or a business card. The ID will be free to obtain and listing in the ALTA Registry is voluntary. Data in the ALTA Registry will be updated daily.
TIAC began insuring ALTA members in June of 1988, making TIAC one of the oldest and most experienced insurers for title agents and abstracters E&O insurance. ALTA Members may obtain premium indications by simply completing the Expedited Premium Estimate Form. Members can also contact TIAC toll free at 1-800-628-5136 with any questions on the program.
