University of Missouri Develops Online Tool for Abstract Companies

January 28, 2016

A new online tool provides abstracters an aerial view of land tracts they may be researching.

The free Ag Site Assessment web-based tool offers information on physical, cultural and environmental characteristics of land. It is available at AgSite.missouri.edu.

Developed by University of Missouri Extension, the site pulls data from many sources into a report, said MU Extension agricultural economist Ray Massey. Abstract company employees can view land tract acreage and get legal descriptions.

“Abstract company employees and other professionals can locate and outline fields from detailed aerial maps,” Massey said. “With the click of one button, users can print a report about soils, waters, how many people live near the property and other issues such as endangered species living in the county.”
